Are there any common misconceptions about fostering or adopting pets that you'd like to clarify on this page?

Adoption doesn't always involve rescuing a stray or abused animal. In many cases, we welcome dogs who have been retired from breeding programs. These dogs are usually well-socialized with other dogs, but they may lack experience as companion animals or family pets and require more human interaction.

What makes AlbertaPAWWS's adoption process unique or special compared to other organizations?

Currently, we specialize in toy and small-breed dogs. This focus may change in the future, but for now, that's all we are welcoming into our association.

What's the one thing you want people to understand about AlbertaPAWWS after reading the FAQs?

If someone adopts from us and their situation changes or the dog isn't a good fit, we have a policy that the animal returns to our care. The initial placement of any dog adoption includes a 10-day trial. A deposit for the adoption fee is taken on the day of placement, and the remaining half of the adoption fee is paid only after it's determined that the dog is wanted and acclimating well in their new home at day 10. Timelines may be adjusted and customized based on circumstances.
